We continue our discourse on Governmentalism. We’ve established from scriptures that there are two legislative eras in Adamic history. The first is the era of the mis-labelled “Ten Commandments” – Era of the Law. It is essentially the Old Testament. The second era is the Era of the Spirit, or Era of the Law of the Spirit of Life. It is also known as the New Testament.
Funny how we never see it, but the very fact of legislation presupposes the establishment of government and nationhood. The first legislative programme – the “Ten Commandments” – was the formal inauguration of the Nation of Israel. The second legislative inauguration session was Pentecost. It was the birth of a United Kingdom – the spiritual amalgamation of the Jewish nation with the Gentile non Jewish nation.
As Paul noted, the middle wall of partition separating Jews from Gentiles was broken: “For He (Jesus) is our peace, our bond of unity and harmony. He has made us both Jew and Gentile one, and destroyed the hostile dividing wall between us. By abolishing in His own crucified flesh the enmity caused by the Law with its decrees and ordinances which He annulled; that He from the two might create in Himself one new quality of humanity out of the two.” (Ephesians 2:14-15). The spiritual “Berlin Wall” has been broken: a new nation created, a new race forged, a new government inaugurated. By legislating the Law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus, God was dealing in government not moral codes. (Romans 8:2).
It is unfortunate that people mistake Christianity for a set of moral codes by which to go to Heaven. Man thinks he can please God by doing good. The Bible says otherwise. It’s IMPOSSIBLE to please God outside of faith. (Hebrews 11:6). Jesus came to establish a New World Order. It marked the end of the old order. He came to fulfill the Law, he said. (Matthew 5:17-18). “For Christ is the end of the Law, the limit at which it ceases to be, for the Law leads up to Him. In Him the purpose which it was designed to accomplish is fulfilled. The purpose of the Law is fulfilled in Him as the means of righteousness (right relationship with God).” (Romans 10:4 AMP). But he also came to “fulfill the prophets” i.e. prophecies concerning him: “Beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.” (Luke 24:27).
The Law, all the prophets starting from Moses, and all the prophecies pointed to Jesus. Listen to what Jesus said: “You have your heads in your Bibles constantly because you think you’ll find eternal life there. But you miss the forest for the trees. These Scriptures are all about me! And here I am, standing right before you, and you aren’t willing to receive from me the life you say you want.” John 5:39-40. “For if you believed Moses, you would believe and rely on Me, for he wrote about Me personally.” John 5:46.
He also fulfilled the prophecies of Isaiah. Let’s read Matthew 8:16-17: “That evening a lot of demon-afflicted people were brought to him. He relieved the inwardly tormented. He cured the bodily ill. He fulfilled Isaiah’s well-known sermon (prophecy): He took our illnesses, He carried our diseases.” Now, let’s see the original prophecy by Isaiah: “Surely he hath borne our grief, and carried our sorrows: he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” Isaiah 53:4-5.
In other words, there’s provision for healing in the sacrificial death of Jesus; not just amnesty for sins. The prophecy in fact states that Jesus died not just for our physical ailments but PSYCHOLOGICAL AILMENTS as well. This includes DEPRESSION!!! (Grief and sorrows). Jesus died for depressive illnesses. Depression is a torment of the soul. It is marked by sadness, feelings of hopelessness, dejection, extreme weakness, over-sleeping, sometimes suicidal tendencies. If you’re suffering from depression Jesus can heal you. Your depression was laid on Him at the cross. He was acquainted with sorrow the Bible says. PROFESS YOUR HEALING: By His stripes (bruises) you are healed! Say: By the bruises of Jesus, I am healed of depression. He bore my sorrows on the cross. I BELIEVE! Keep confessing the Word of God. Hold on to it. Your healing was provisioned in the atonement.
Another prophecy of Isaiah concerning Jesus is actually the subject of our discussion. It’s the Christmas prophecy. Many people don’t realise the import of Christmas. It has more to do with government than a baby in a manger: Isaiah 9:6: “For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder. His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father [of Eternity], Prince of Peace.” Here’s a modern translation: “For a child has been born – for us! The gift of a son – for us! He’ll take over the running of the world. His names will be: Amazing Counselor, Strong God, Eternal Father, Prince of Wholeness. His ruling authority will grow, and there’ll be no limits to the wholeness he brings.”
Jesus did not come to inaugurate religion. He came to inaugurate a government, to birth a new nation. He kept talking about the Kingdom of God. There are 68 Bible verses on the Kingdom of God. When Pilate asked him, “You are a King?” Jesus answered, “You say it! You speak correctly! For I am a King. Certainly I am a King! This is why I was born, and for this I have come into the world, to bear witness to the Truth.” John 18:36-37. Jesus is a King. He has a kingdom. The kingdom has a standing army. For real! When they came to arrest him he said: “Don’t you realize that I am able right now to call to my Father and twelve companies – more, if I want them – of fighting angels would be here, battle-ready?” Mat. 26:53-54. Angels are not curly haired baby dolls with chicken wings shooting tiny arrows from puny bows. Angels are monstrous soldiers. The ones that illegally copulated with women gave birth to giants! Gen.6.1-4 Those funny baby doll pictures of angels are Satan’s counter-intelligence. He runs a full blown intelligence operation. As long as you see God’s army as made of baby dolls you’ll never see the true nature of things, the mightiness of God.
And so the legislative session of the Ten Commandments was the inauguration of the nation of Israel. Pentecost was the inauguration of the expanded and now globalised Kingdom of God. It is why Christians are called citizens (Ephesians 2:19). Citizenship bespeaks political rights and duties. The citizenship of the Nation of Israel came by birth. Citizenship of this new nation is conferred by re-birth. And the new nation has a language. It’s called “tongues”. It’s the natural endowment of the Spirit. In other words, Pentecost was “Independence Day” from the tyranny of our colonial master – the Law. Pentecost is a political expression. It is indeed a national holy-day and ought to be celebrated. It’s the consummation of the political expansion of the Kingdom of Heaven to Earth under a new treaty (New Testament). That it might be fulfilled: “Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on Earth, as it is in Heaven” (Matthew 6:10).
To become a citizen of the Kingdom of God you need a re-birth: Be born again Jesus said. Please pray this prayer: Father I acknowledge I’m a sinner and that Jesus died for me. I accept Him as my Lord and my Saviour. Amen!
