Total Man (Part 8) – Good Versus Evil

God is an arborist, among other hobbies. He specialises in the cultivation and care of trees and shrubs, does tree surgery. Over and over again we see his interest in trees in scriptures. He keeps using arboricultural analogies: “I am the Vine, you are the branches. When you’re joined with me and I with you, the relation intimate and organic, the harvest is sure to be abundant. Separated, you can’t produce a thing.” John 15:5-8 MSG. Christians of non-Jewish origin (Gentiles) are referred to as tree grafts in scriptures: “But some of these branches from Abraham’s tree—some of the people of Israel—have been broken off. And you Gentiles, who were branches from a wild olive tree, have been grafted in.” Romans 11:17 NLT.

Total Man (Part 4) – The Man Of Sin

Hitler was an evil man. A very, very evil man. He was not a garden variety of evil. He was thoroughly possessed by Satan. His spiritual mainstay was Theosophy – an esoteric, racist, highfalutin rendition of occultism. The beliefs of Theosophy are predominantly based on the writings of Helena Blavatsky. Wikipedia describes her as an occultist. She was one of two cofounders of Theosophy. (The other was Henry Olcott). She was so racist she described some people as “semi-animal creatures,” said some people emerged from crossings with “semi-human stocks.”  She’s the godmother of the New Age movement. Her Theosophical ideas contributed significantly to Nazi ideology. […]

Total Man (Part 2)

This is Part 2 of Total Man. Please read Part 1 here.

The law of visualisation says you must see it before you see it. That’s because you can edit yourself. You have the capacity to become what you see. You can write your history in advance. And so to maximise your potential as a man you must learn to use your imagination, you must be creative. And you must learn to reason analytically. You can’t do Twitter reasoning.

Total Man (Part 1)

There are four men mentioned in scriptures. There’s that bloke we all know from Genesis, the guy named Adam. Then there’s the mediator between God and mankind – the Man Christ Jesus. 1 Timothy 2:5. He is sui generis – a very unique man. Then there’s the recreated man Paul wrote about in 2 Corinthians 5:17. You’ve been taught a lot about this man in church. Lastly, there’s the man of sin, the personage popularly referred to as Antichrist. 2 Thessalonians 2:3-10. The man we’re dealing with here is the bloke from Genesis, Adam. He’s the mechanical engineering template for mankind.

Remembrance IX: Secularity And The Spirit

If you’ve been following #Illuminare you’d have noticed I am emphatic about five things:

1. You don’t have to be a pastor to have a profound understanding of scriptures, or to operate in the gifts of the Spirit. Every Christian is supposed to operate in the gifts of the Spirit.
2. Everything shouldn’t take place in church. We’re supposed to take Christ everywhere we go – to the political, social, cultural and economic nooks of society.
3. Intelligence is not anti Spirit, neither is science anti God. Some scientists, yes. The Spirit has gifts of intelligence – word of knowledge, word of wisdom, prophecy.
4. The church is a political institution headed by a political figure. Christians should participate in governance and politics.
5. The reality of the Order of Melchizedek to which all Christians belong is that we function at the intersection of the secular and the divine. We are priest-kings. To illustrate this point I’m going to share a story with you.

The Judah In Us

The man Judah was a most interesting character. The fourth son of Patriarch Jacob, he oscillated between moral poles like a man struggling with something deep inside him. There were moments he rose in nobility, and other moments he might have shocked himself. What made Judah even more interesting was the fact he had a pharisaic disposition. He was quick to condemn sin in others even when he was ensnared in the same issues. In other words, Judah was a man of like passions like us. There’s a Judah in all of us.

Remembrance VIII: Back To Basics

Even if we can’t agree on many things about God one thing we can all agree on is, and this from the evidence before us, God is super intelligent. In acknowledgement of God’s intelligence, John declared him the Logos. John 1:1. Logos is the principle of divine reason and creative order. It’s the code running the universe. It’s otherwise known as WORD. Hebrews 1:3. Logos means “word.”

Remembrance VII: My Healing Story

I had always wanted to be a lawyer, since the age of ten. I don’t understand the mechanics of how children are stirred in a vocational direction, but for me the inspiration was a legal drama series on TV. It was called The Main Chance. The lead character, David Main made me want to study law. He was played by John Stride. He was absolutely brilliant in and out of court. David Main had certain qualities that appealed to my sense of self, even as a kid – he was erudite, confident and urbane. Such brilliance! And he had a beautiful girlfriend. I did all I could to achieve that dream and eleven years later I was holding my law certificate in my hand. Strategic objective accomplished. Now, for the rest of my life.
