Cogitation VIII: Double Sim Phone

One of the great spectacles of the 21st century is the caravan of migrants which originated in Honduras. It is bound for the United States of America. Well over 7,000 men and women left their country on foot, some with babies. Some of the migrants cited poverty, corruption and gang violence for the flight. They were determined to cross four national boundaries en route America. That’s 2,606 kilometres. Travelling in sweltering heat rising up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, hungry and exhausted they persevered. Attempts to stop the caravan in Mexico failed. Initially there was a standoff between the caravan and the security forces on the bridge between Guatemala and Mexico. They populated the Suchiate Bridge like a school of sardines. And then the amazing happened. The people began to swim the river under the bridge. That was considerable risk though the local populace did assist by providing canoes. A few days before the horde had destroyed metal barriers in Guatemala to cross over into Mexico. Nothing could stop them.

Cogitation VII: God’s Psychological Profile

If you want to relate with God, be close to him, it’s important you understand how he thinks, how he processes stuff. He’s quite different from us. He’s very unique. The average human is more or less defined by just one thing. Not God. He’s defined by four powerful things. Those four things operate as principles. They are intellect, power, trust quotient and love. The combination of the four definitive factors are encapsulated into a technical and stylistic container phrase called “righteousness.” Everything God does is righteous, both in material form, as well as stylistically. In Britain for example the Queen has “Royal Mail.” Were God to name his postal service he’d probably call it “Righteous Mail.”

Cogitation VI: Cogent Words

To have knowledge, you must first have reverence for the Lord. Stupid people have no respect for wisdom and refuse to learn. Proverbs 1:7 GNT.

God gives out wisdom free, is plainspoken in knowledge and understanding. He’s a rich mine of common sense for those who live well, a personal bodyguard to the candid and sincere. Proverbs 2:6-8 MSG.

Don’t lose your grip on love and loyalty. Tie them around your neck; carve their initials on your heart. Earn a reputation for living well in God’s eyes and the eyes of the people. Proverbs 3:3-4 MSG. […]

Cogitation V: Is The Bible God’s word?

The Bible is not a dictation. Unlike the books of some other religions it has a different concept, and the concept is very radical. It’s rather an inspired collection of history, instructions, philosophical thoughts, letters, poetry, rap and prophecies. It also contains a cosmological narrative, as well as information on the extradimensional that seems like a Marvel other-worldly movie. It is important we recognise the CONCEPT of the Bible. The Bible has a concept. It’s kind of avant-garde. The Bible is like one massive movie production. Imagine a movie production over a long period of time. But the sets are in multiple locations, some out of this world. The compilation of those film reels over some 6000years is what the Bible is. We’re of course discounting the timeline in the first two chapters in Genesis. That spans billions of years; actually stretches all the way back into timelessness. […]

Solving Nigeria’s Unemployment Crisis

When the scriptures unemotionally declared “If anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either,” it created a moral burden. 2 Thessalonians 3:10 AMP. The moral burden is not just on the individual however. The moral burden also falls on the state. It is the job of the state to make sure there are jobs. It’s a policy challenge.

Cogitation IV: Creating God

Imagine you’re in a philosophy class and your lecturer asks you to conceptualise an entity called “God.” What will be your parameters? There are seven capacities any entity called “God” must have. They are intellect, power, transcendence, technological capability, ubiquity, creative capacity and governmental authority. Without these seven qualities a “God” cannot be God. […]

Cogitation III: The I Am

From a relational perspective being immaterial must be a little tough for God, humanly speaking that is. How do you even prove you exist! To prove he exists, God has had to resort to the same device used by scientists in detecting dark matter in space. Space is mostly dark so scientists watch out for gravitational effects on visible matter. God has sometimes had to rely on such a device to prove his existence to man. The Bible says nature testifies of his power. Psalm 19:2. To get man’s attention in the Old Testament God resorted to showy, outlandish use of sign language. He would part the sea, arrive in a convoy of thunder and lightning – the equivalence of strobe lights and sirens, turn water into blood. We call them miracles.

Cogitation II: This Is My Worship

I had the privilege of attending a very small church on Sunday. The church meets in a lovely space in a five star hotel in the metropolis. It’s as cute as church can be. The congregation numbered about a hundred. It was a new church. The pastor of the church was known to my wife and I. I had had this persistent recall of the ministry the week before our attendance. Decoded, I understood that to mean a supply of intelligence to visit the church. On a human level, it was our little way of giving some encouragement to the pastor. It’s never easy starting a ministry.

What If Jesus Ran For Governor In Ibadan

Going by banners and posters the city of Ibadan in western Nigeria has to be the most interesting political landscape in the run up to the 2019 gubernatorial election in that nation. The city has always had colourful politicians. There was Adegoke Adelabu of the “Penkelemes” fame in the First Republic. For the uninitiated, “penkelemes” Read more about What If Jesus Ran For Governor In Ibadan[…]

The Future of Nigeria

One of the most potent passages of scripture is Ephesians 1:20-23. It’s a scripture with stark and unambiguous declarations. Yet it’s recondite to some. Because many people read the King James version of the Bible they can’t get hold of the import of the words in Ephesians 1:20-23. They’re lost in the plenitude of overwrought syntax of 17th century English. And some have willingly shut themselves out of understanding through groupthink ideology. They can’t confront the truth of scriptures, won’t see what the Bible says. There’s safety in numbers they imagine. And some are caught in a time warp. They’re trying to replicate the context of the Apostles. They do not realise God has a progressive vision for Christianity. What the Apostles knew was a manifested Jesus. They knew him “in the flesh.” They saw a resurrected Jesus in the flesh. They never saw him in government in Heaven. Only John, Paul and Steven had that revelation. There’s a reason the Book of Revelation is called the Book of Revelation. It pared back the curtain to reveal who Jesus really is. It’s why Revelation starts with the phrase, “A revealing of Jesus, the Messiah.” Revelation 1:1 MSG. In other words forget the Jesus you knew – all that baby in the manger stuff. This is the real deal.
