Handwriting on the wall

Here’s the thing: the Adamic race, aka human race has been struggling with artificial intelligence (AI) for some time now. Perhaps the new field of neuromorphic engineering will yield some results. We have only been able to create “simulators” – robots attempting human functions. Our challenge is our lack of understanding of the brain. It has flummoxed us. Nobody knows how the brain works. Add to this the incredible energy efficiency of the brain and you can understand our slog. Despite its processing power, the brain uses the equivalence of the energy of a simple light bulb – 20 watts! We know the basic functions of the different lobes and ganglia of the brain but lack knowledge of the inner workings of neurons. Without this we can’t grapple with “consciousness” – the concept of the self, or what will qualify as “soul” in our vocab. If we understand the “soul” perhaps we can create “biochines” – cultured body parts imbued with technological consciousness.

Imagine what life will be like if you can programme a mouth to travel to sing happy birthday to your sister in another town! Imagine the mouth being able to identify your sister at the party and then CHOOSING to belt out a rap version of the song! That’ll be something, wouldn’t it! Essentially that mouth has a mind of its own. It has a will, intelligence and consciousness. Science fiction, isn’t it? Only that the technology already exists, in another dimension.

There are bio robots in Heaven – “autonomous bio-bots” (ABB). These are body parts with full consciousness. A hand was once sent from that dimension to scribble a message in our dimension! This hand had an embedded GPS system, neuro motor skills, cognitive capacity and high IQ. (Sometimes I think God just likes to show off!) The hand was sent during the reign of Belshazzar, King of Babylon, successor to the famous King Nebuchadnezzar. It is recorded in the Bible. May we live in interesting times! The people of the ancient world had far more interactions with higher dimensional science than we do. And this despite our boast of “interactive technology”! We have witnessed less “signs and wonders” than the ancients. Are we such a faithless generation?

Now here’s the story of the autonomous intelligent scriber – the bio-bot – as recorded in the Bible. (Funny how secular history omits interesting details or even entire incidents once they seem to beggar credulity). King Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon had conquered Israel and looted the temple treasury of its gold goblets and utensils. The story of Nebuchadnezzar itself makes for interesting reading. He was a very erratic and highly flawed individual. Power drunk, he embodied absolutism in monarchy. He imprisoned and sentenced people to death capriciously. God did send a message of warning to him, but he grew even more hard-hearted and pig-headed.

In punishment, God drove him from his throne and took his sanity. He became a raving lunatic, went into the forest. And he ate grass on fours like a wild animal, naked under the elements! His nails grew into talons, his hair grew wild. And this went on for seven years. It took that long for him to accept the sovereignty of God. His kingdom was restored after this. His nobles came looking for him and reinstated him.

This formed the background of the ascendance of his son to the throne and you’d have thought he’d have learnt. But insanity often runs in a family! Belshazzar chose to mock God in a very grand gesture. He threw a party and ordered the use of the dedicated holy goblets as wine mugs. And he didn’t stop there. He began to toast the gods made of gold and silver, bronze and iron, wood and stone with God’s dedicated goblets. In essence, an earthling, a mere man, was mocking the God of Heaven! If that’s not insanity nothing is! Power intoxicates! And that was when God sent a hand to deliver a message.

The hand came into the ballroom, located a particular wall (the wall illuminated with lamps) and scribbled this message: “MENE, TEKEL, PERES.” Everyone freaked out. The king became apoplectic and extremely afraid. His knees knocked, his legs became limp. He called in his astrologers, fortune tellers, enchanters and diviners to interpret the writing. He promised fame, wealth and political power (one third reign of the kingdom) to any interpreter. But none could make sense of the code, none could interpret it. The king and his nobles went into hysteria.

Upon hearing the commotion, the Queen intervened with counsel. She advised the king to call in Daniel. Daniel was good at mysteries and he was “well known for his intellectual brilliance and spiritual wisdom.” Daniel interpreted the message thus: MENE: God has numbered your rule and determined it. TEKEL: You have been weighed in the scales and don’t add up. PERES: Your kingdom has been divided up and handed to the Medes and Persians. It is from this incidence that we got the famous saying, Handwriting on the wall! That same night, King Belshazzar was murdered and Darius the Mede took over the kingdom. Sometimes God’s judgment can be very swift. According to Daniel the bigger message is, “God rules human kingdoms and puts anyone he wants in charge.” In essence, Govermentalism – God’s overriding control of nations, governmental and political affairs.

Do you know this God? Please pray this prayer: Father I come to you in the name of Jesus. I want to know you, not just about you. Give me knowledge of your power, your dimensions and your kingdom. I acknowledge that I’m a sinner and that Jesus died for me. I accept him today as my Lord and my Saviour, Amen!
