Cogitation III: The I Am

From a relational perspective being immaterial must be a little tough for God, humanly speaking that is. How do you even prove you exist! To prove he exists, God has had to resort to the same device used by scientists in detecting dark matter in space. Space is mostly dark so scientists watch out for gravitational effects on visible matter. God has sometimes had to rely on such a device to prove his existence to man. The Bible says nature testifies of his power. Psalm 19:2. To get man’s attention in the Old Testament God resorted to showy, outlandish use of sign language. He would part the sea, arrive in a convoy of thunder and lightning – the equivalence of strobe lights and sirens, turn water into blood. We call them miracles.

What If Peter Had Not Denied Jesus?

There are those invocations we make that are lacking in efficacy and for that, we ought to thank God. Take the cock-crow experience of Peter. When he was called out as a follower of Christ Peter rained curses on himself in very vehement denial. (Matthew 26:73-75) It’s not exactly a far-fetched scenario. Some, for example, Read more about What If Peter Had Not Denied Jesus?[…]

What If Daniel Had Died In The Lion’s Den?

If there’s nothing we learn from Daniel’s story, it’s how treacherous the corridors of power can be. It’s a cloak and dagger world and full of long shadows. In that world, brilliance can be severely punished. But we seem to be getting ahead of ourselves, let us back up a little. Daniel was a gifted Read more about What If Daniel Had Died In The Lion’s Den?[…]

What If King Saul Had Waited For Samuel To Perform The Sacrifice?

Saul has to be one of the most tragic stories in human history. The man blew it big time. He had such a promising start but came to a tragic end. But we seem to be getting ahead of ourselves. What If Noah Had Not Built The Ark?

What if Noah had not built the ark? Well, that would have created all sorts of complications leading up to the Antichrist. What If The Bible Never Existed?

What if the Bible never existed? Well, obviously there will be no documentation of all the stuff we know, but that won’t really alter the right of God to adjudicate the lives of men. What If Jesus Had Not Commanded The Storm To Be Still?

What If Jesus Had Bowed To Satan?

There were those three temptations of Jesus in the wilderness. Let’s call them the classic temptations since he faced several other temptations in his lifetime. What If Job Had Cursed God?

Job was an extremely successful agro entrepreneur – the richest man in Uz. Only this wasn’t your robber baron. This was a man who feared God. Why Is Christianity So Hard?

Illuminare65dForget all the religiosity, Christianity is not hard and salvation is so simple, though some like to make it seem so difficult. Jesus said, “My yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” (Matthew 11:30) The Amplified Bible translates that as: “For my yoke is wholesome (useful, good – not harsh, hard, sharp, or pressing, but comfortable, gracious, and pleasant), and my burden is light and easy to be borne.” That’s like someone saying, “I’m easy to get along with, I don’t impose or inconvenience people.” Jesus is a cool dude, and if our experiences don’t match what he said we must be doing something wrong. Jesus can’t lie. This is someone who calls himself the Truth, and who began statements with “Verily, verily…” meaning, “I tell you the truth…” So what are we not getting right, and what false notions are we holding on to?
