His spiritual mainstay was Theosophy – an esoteric, racist, highfalutin rendition of occultism. The beliefs of Theosophy are predominantly based on the writings of Helena Blavatsky. Wikipedia describes her as an occultist. She was one of two cofounders of Theosophy. (The other was Henry Olcott).
